Our camera gear as travel photographers and filmmakers
What’s in our camera bag as travel photographers and videographers?
Sony A7IV: Best travel camera for photography & videography
As travel photographers and filmmakers, we bring a lot of gear when traveling. We always need two different bodies. One for photography, and one for filmmaking. This means we were always fully packed when doing activities such as hiking, going out, and having dinner. You never know if there will be a situation you’d like to capture on camera.
We were completely done carrying around such a heavy camera bag. That’s when we bought our Sony A7IV camera.
In our opinion, the Sony A7IV is the perfect camera for anyone who likes to capture photos and videos. You can easily switch between photography and filmmaking with one slide button.
This full-frame camera is relatively lightweight, fast, easy to use and the battery provides long-lasting power, which makes it the perfect camera for travelers.
What's in our camera bag?
At the moment we use two Sony bodies and three lenses ranging from 16 to 200 mm, all with an aperture of 2.8. For vlogging and filmmaking, we use the Sony A7IV. When one of us is using the Sony A7IV, we use the Sony A7II for photography. We don’t have a proper camera bag yet, so we use two of these Kapten and Son Bali bags for our camera gear.
Sony A7IV
The Sony A7IV is our go to allround camera for videography and photography. It's a full-frame camera, which allows you to create the sharpest images!
Sony 16-35 F2.8 GM
This Sony 16-35 is perfect for wide shots. We use it for both photography and videography. The sharpness is insane!
Sony A7II
The Sony A7II was Serina's first ever camera. We still use it a lot for photography. It's a perfect beginner camera!
Sigma ART 24-70 F2.8
The Sigma 24-70 is the perfect lens for landscape photography or portraits. In our opinion, it's the only lens you need when you are just starting photography!
DJI Mini 4 pro
We chose to buy a DJI mini 4 pro so we can bring it on all our travels. It's only 249 grams which means you don't need a flying permit to fly this drone.
Sony 70-200 F2.8
We use the Sony 70-200 F2.8 if we want to zoom in even more. We use it for example for safari's and streetphotography.
Sigma 70-200 F2.8
We just bought the newest Sigma 70-200 F2.8, which is slightly sharper than the Sony 70-200 GM i.
Sirui Traveler Tripod
The lightweight Sirui Traveler Tripod is the perfect tripod for traveling! It's quite compact and not very heavy!
Sony Accu compatible with Sony A7IV
You need some good Sony batteries for your Sony A7IV. We recommend using Sony batteries only.
MacBook M2 Pro
We use a Macbook M2 pro for video and photo editing. We think this is the best option for heavy editing software.
K&F Variable ND
To film during the day, it is often too bright. Especially, when shooting in LOG you need an ND filter to be able to shoot with the right brightness.
Apple Magic Mouse
Our Apple Magic Mouse is perfect to use in combination with our Apple MacBook Pro. It is very small, so it easily fits in small pockets of our bags.
Apple Keyboard
The Apple keyboard is the only keyboard that is fully compatible with a Macbook. It is very thing and therefore easy to bring on travels.
DJI RSC 2 Gimbal
We bought a DJI RSC 2 Gimbal to get really smooth footage. Our camera gear is quite heavy, so for us a mini gimbal wasn't enough.
Rode videomic
We need a mic to be able to record crystal clear audio. This is especially a must for vlogging, but also for ambient noise.
Sandisk SD card 128GB
SD cards are a must to save all your files into your camera. It's up to you if you want a 128 GB or 256 GB SD card.
Sandisk Extreme 2tb
To save all our files we use The Sandisk Extreme SSDs. These hard drives are super light and small. Perfect for traveling!
